10. Bangladesh bank is the banker to the govt

Acting in the capacity of the banker to the government, Bangladesh bank” performance following functions-
a. It accepts govt. deposits cheques and drafts
b. It undertakes collection of cheques and drafts to drawn on other banks.
c. The government deposits all its cash balances with the Bangladesh bank free of interest.
d. The bank transfers govt. funds from one place to another as requested by the govt., and its agencies.
e. The bank acts as the public debt manager and runs a public debt office (PDO) for management of public debt.
f. The bank acts as the representative of the govt. in different international agencies and other forums such as world bank, IMF, ADB etc.
g. The Bank works as a agent and advisor to the govt. in various financial matter
h. It makes payments on behalf of the govt.
i. It carries all the transactions relating to the sale and purchase of the foreign exchange on behalf of the government.
